Ty Ysgol receives the grants to move forward

Work to renovate Ty Ysgol in Penrallt and making the building usable again has been going on for a number of years. But now at long last the venture has finally started. Builders moved in this week and already preparation demolition work and clearance has taken place.

It is hoped that the building work will be completed by 4th April 2008. A board of directors has been working behind the scenes for around 5 years, but their hard work and patience has now been rewarded.

Initially Gwynedd Council gave £27,000 so that the board could purchase the building. Since then there have been applications made from different sources. During the initial discussions, CADW had listed the building as Grade 2 which meant that even though substantial work could be carried out on the inside of the building, the appearance from the outside could not be changed.
