St Helen's Road Development
At long last we see the start of the St Helen's Road development, this development of flats and office space. This work has been a long time in the making and again progress has been hindered by numerous obstacles, a recognised flood plain being one of them.
The tallest building on the street has now been demolished (as our photo and video shows) the building was used for a number of years by Vanwil Oil Co. A local company supplying fuel across Gwynedd and Anglesey. The company was part owned by Jack (Vanwil) Williams the late husband of local councillor and former Mayor Mair Williams.

The Porthmadog Demolition team has been working at the site all week and should be close to finishing by the end of the week.
Caernarfon Online hopes that this project can go on quickly and just as important the buildings opposite 'Working Links' are sorted out as well. This area has been a blot on our landscape for a number of years and it is vital for our tourist trade that work can go ahead without outside interference.
The area is close to the Castle and right opposite our respected Welsh Highland Railway. We wait and pray that the group who has been complaining so much abut the Doc Fictoria project will not interfere so much here. Something tells me that they will though and these are the people who is holding the town back all these years.
