Welsh Conservatives Manifesto

Dylan Jones who will be contesting the Cadnant seat in Caernarfon has taken the trouble to highlight the Welsh Conservatives Manifesto for us and tells us the full manifesto can be found on the Conservative website. We thank him for taking the trouble in sorting this out and sending it in to us here at COL.

Conservative Manifesto Highlights.

This manifesto sets out how Welsh Conservatives will improve the quality of life, local services and environment for communities right across Wales. Our policies are made in our local communities, for our local communities. We support better local services, fantastic local schools in modern, well-equipped buildings, safer communities, greener and cleaner local environments and affordable Council Taxes. It is our responsibility to look after people – our families, our elderly, and our vulnerable people and support our under-valued carers. Our social services networks must be there to help families when they need it. There have been years of under-investment in social and affordable housing in Wales.

Housing is a right for everyone. If we are to build strong communities then we must provide safe, affordable homes. Welsh Conservatives are determined to protect our local environments. We support weekly bin collections and ambitious targets for recycling. Clean communities are safe communities. We are passionate about protecting our green spaces. At the heart of every thriving community are thriving local services – our Post Offices, GP surgeries and excellent schools. Welsh Conservatives will be fighting to keep our services local.

People are fed up with paying higher Council Tax but not seeing any benefits. Welsh Conservatives are committed to delivering value for money. But building strong communities means working together. We must live up to our social responsibilities if we are to deliver for Wales. Labour and Plaid Cymru have let us all down in Wales. Despite millions of pounds of Council Tax-payers money little seems to change. Their response to everything is a state solution – a one-size-fits-all policy. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Welsh Conservatives believe that solutions are found within our communities where people are best placed to see what is wrong and work to fix it. Welsh Conservatives are prepared to live up to our social responsibilities.

The Welsh Conservative Party is campaigning for change in local authorities across Wales. Working with the Welsh Conservatives can build our communities. 2008 could be a year of change. Safer, cleaner, greener – together.
