map
Gwynedd
Councillors have signed up to a new Strategic Plan which will, for the first
time ever, set a clear and co-ordinated focus to the work of the Council for the
next three years.
Speaking
after the full Council meeting, Gwynedd Council Leader Councillor Dyfed Edwards
said:
“Gwynedd
Council now has in place a clearly defined three year route map which shows us
where we stand, where we want to be in three years time in terms of improving
services for local people, and the milestones along the way against which we can
measure progress towards our three year targets.
“As a
Council, we are committed to undertaking this work together with our
partners so that we can help make a real difference to the lives of
Gwynedd’s residents.
“This ambitious plan will ensure that our focus remains firmly fixed on improving
local services at a time when Gwynedd Council must also face up to an extremely
challenging financial position over the coming years.“
Gwynedd
Council Chief Executive Harry Thomas added:
“The
decision to develop on improved longer term planning framework for the Council will enable
us to concentrate on the main priorities that make the biggest difference to the
county and its people.
“The
Council’s decision - which is the culmination of months of detailed work by
Councillors and officers - means that we can now move on to the more important
work of delivering against the targets we have now set out for the next three
years.”
Over the
period from 2008/09 to 2010/11, the Council will work specifically towards
four objectives in order to achieve its aim. These objectives
are:
· A Sustainable Community
Objective · Improving the Council in order to improve
Gwynedd Objective · Fairness and Opportunities for Vulnerable
People and Communities Objective · A Focus on Residents
