HAVE YOU GOT TALENT?
The final of ‘Have you got Talent 2008’ was held at Cofi
Roc on Sunday night with the three finalists, who were previously chosen from
the Caernarfon Town F.C. Supporters Club auditions; battling it out to win cash
prizes.
Caernarfon’s home-grown hopefuls - Naomi Childs with her
infusion of karate and dance, Eric Davies’ smooth soloist vocals, and the
vibrancy of modern dance delivered by Dawnswyr Clwb y Cofis’; were given the
opportunity to perform 2 live sets in front of judges Rhys Mwyn – Music
Manager, Sian Wheldon – Actress and Teacher, and Owain Llyr – Champion FM. The
evening was hosted by Iestyn Garlick with live music from other
local artists in the form of Ryan Kift & Sian Davies, Sarah Wynn and Donna
Hanks.
With supporters for all participants eagerly watching and
awaiting the results, it was up to the judges to choose first, second and third
place. After much deliberation, Dawnswyr
Clwb y Cofis edged the competition and were crowned the Have you got Talent
2008 winners. As the performances were
so good, both Eric and Naomi were awarded joint second place as it was deemed too
difficult to choose between them.
Rhys Mwyn CEG Chairman and competition judge said after
the event “The evening turned out to be a success with the quality of
performances being on another level to the auditions. We instantly knew that a
lot of hard work and effort had been put into everyone’s final showpieces and
it was difficult to make a decision on who should be crowned the winner.
We are so pleased with the growing support for this event
and are looking forward to next years auditions. The feedback we’ve received from local people
who now know that this will become an annual celebration of Caernarfon’s talent
is great, with many more applicants wishing to take part in 2009. Watch this
space for further announcements!”
The finalists will also be performing live on Y Maes this
Sunday afternoon as part of the Royal Town Council’s local music event.
