Confidence in Gwynedd Economy
Gwynedd
Council has welcome's news that 200 new jobs are to be created by
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics at its site in Llanberis.
Gwynedd
Council’s Development Leader Councillor Dafydd Iwan said:
“The
announcement by Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics is a huge vote of confidence in
the Gwynedd economy.
“The
fact that such a large and prestigious international company is to
significantly increase its presence in the area proves that the Gwynedd and our
local workforce has what it takes to compete at the very highest level.
Gwynedd
Council’s Chief Executive Harry Thomas who this morning met with Siemens
Healthcare Diagnostics Managing Director Steve Britton added:
"This
is great news for Gwynedd. The announcement will result in substantial
new employment opportunities for local people in a modern high-tech growth
sector and excellent career opportunities in particular for our younger
people.
“It is
also good to see that this was a purely commercial decision, without public
sector subsidy, which demonstrates faith not only in a well run business but
also in the Gwynedd community's ability to support that business.
“At
our meeting this morning, we were able to discuss how Gwynedd Council and our
partners might be able to work to support the business on the recruitment and
infrastructure side as they expand over the coming year".
