Time for Caernarfon to take stock

Sometimes you can't do right for doing wrong.

Some sectors in Caernarfon have been nagging for a town Manager for a number of years. Despite this Gwynedd Council explained that it did not make economic sense for the council to employ one. Taking into consideration that every town in Gwynedd would then expect the same.

When the Victoria Dock project began, Watkin Jones agreed to place a Town Centre Manager on site and fund it themselves. It seemed that everybody's problems had been solved, but, low and behold some sectors were still not happy and had reservations about the title. No pleasing some people?

Today, Monday 14th July, The Caernarfon Town Centre Manager Debbie Thomas wrote to the Caernarfon Partnership Meeting to tell them that after much deliberations about her official title, it had been decided to re name her job title as "Centre Manager Doc Fictoria".

A word of warning to all the moaners in town from Caernarfon Online.

We are constantly saying that proper links must be made to ensure the Dock and the town centre are linked together, YET, we see one side trying it's best whilst the other are building walls!

Time and time again this 'Title' has been discussed at Town Council level and at Partnership meetings. If these people are not careful then we will see a big divide between the town and the Dock.

Love it or hate it the Dock is here and it's here to stay, the sooner these moaners understand this the sooner Caernarfon can progress.

Debbie assures everyone that the change in title will not change the way she works and she will be working just as hard now than she did before the name change. i.e promoting Caernarfon.

Guys enough is enough -  The Dock has been totally snubbed in new town guides (to which the Town Council embarrassingly funded) and these same people are saying they want to make links??? Come off it.

This reminds us of an old fisherman's tale in town, which goes like this.....

A fisherman comes into Slate Quay with Open Top Lobster Pots.

A visitor asks the fisherman, "Aren't you worried that the lobsters will climb out and escape?"

The fisherman replies no mate, they are Caernarfon Lobsters"  

Confused, the visitor asks "What's that got to do with it?"

The Fisherman replies "Well you see, when one of the Caernarfon lobsters starts to climb to the top, all the others will jump on his back and pull him back down again".
