The Curse of the Phantom Hearse

Following his success on achieving a Champion FM Toast Award last year, for his contribution to the Welsh Language through his website www.Cofis.co.uk, the Caernarfon Online Welsh Editor and Resident Caernarfon Historian, Mr T. Meirion Hughes, was approached by a person speaking on behalf of the Prince’s Trust Office at Caernarfon. He intimated that the Trust was anxious to make a film of a true story about a Caernarfon smuggler in the 19^th century that was to be seen on Meirion’s English Language website www.Cofis-dre-ar-y-we.co.uk . Meirion agreed and that was the start of the Trust putting forward an application to the Lottery Heritage Fund for a grant to assist in producing such a film.

Subsequently, on obtaining this grant, Meirion was asked to act as advisor on historical facts relating to the film making exercise and to carry out further research pertaining to the life and times of the smuggler, Boaz Pritchard. This he did and was then asked to act as mentor to the young people who were to take part in the film and to acquaint them with all known facts about this colourful individual.

Caernarfon Online is most pleased to have been instrumental in bringing this true story to notice of the Prince’s Trust and to the public at large and wish every success to the Trust in the Preview showing of the film at the Galeri on Thursday, June 19^th 2008.
