Reorganising Gwynedd’s Primary Schools – the
full Council’s decision
Gwynedd
Council has today (19/6/08), unanimously adopted the following resolution:
(a) To
recognise that the plan had not been supported during the consultation and that
approval be given to establishing a new Primary Schools Reorganisation
Improvement Working Group to establish a schools organisation model for the
future this is sustainable and fair.
(b)
Request the Primary Schools Reorganisation Improvement Working Group undertake
the following tasks and report on the progress at a meeting of this Scrutiny
Committee to be held in November 2008:
(i) to
consider a new arrangement of formal co-operation between schools;
(ii) to
consider the appropriateness of closing schools, in accordance with clear and
firm criteria;
(iii) to
present proposals to develop area schools in some catchment-areas;
(iv) to deal
with any other matter which the Working Group deems relevant.
The full
Council also resolved to undertake a statutory consultation period in relation
to the aim of closing Ysgol Rhydyclafdy and Ysgol Croesor.
