Attack of the 50 foot Woman?

Art for art sakes! Welsh artist Megan Broadmeadow's sculpture of a giant shoe came to Victoria Dock today and had people stopping in their tracks wondering what was going on. The sculpture gives a female side to a male dominated nautical tradition and is supposed to be a ‘she’ vessel, cradling the lives of men in her hull. Very apt for Caernarfon taking into consideration Caernarfon's most famous naval female Ellen Edwards.

If you haven't heard of Ellen then give the Maritime Museum at the Dock a visit to see how influential she was is training sailors the ways of the seven seas.

The Giant "Winkle Picker" raised quite a few eyebrows at the dock and most couldn't believe their eyes at the sight.

This is the official line

"It is a high heeled sculpture designed to represent femininity issues pertaining the nautical world and the rise of a contemporary shopping phenomenon.

Check out our video and let us know what you think.

Here's what we think....."We think they should act their age not their shoe size" or, or, or "You know what they say about women who wear big shoes" or how about "What's that terrible smell in the Dock?".
