The life and times of Llewelyn Turner

Following the Civic Society AGM at the Institute Building, respected Local Historian T. Meirion Hughes was invited to give a talk on one of Caernarfon's famous sons, Llewelyn Turner. Meirion has researched the life and times of the former Mayor and gave a talk on all he achieved.

Meirion took the packed room through how Turner rebuilt Caernarfon castle to its modern glory and how he ensured that locals should not be charged to enter and how his wishes are still kept today. He also explained how the hard work of Turner gave the townsfolk clean water following a dreadful cholera epidemic.

Caernarfon Online were there to record the event on DVD and it will be available from Meirion in due course. The talk is a true record of the great man and one which will hopefully make his story available for eternity.

If anyone wishes to join the Caernarfon Civic Society, then they should contact Hywel Roberts through the Town Council for an application form.
