New Air Ambulance arrives on the Maes

North Wales' new £3 million Air Ambulance arrived in town yesterday battling high winds and rain. The new EC-135 is larger than the old helicopter and much more spacious inside. As well as being bigger the new service which covers most of North Wales is also faster than its predecessor.

The Helicopter received cheers from local schoolchildren and visitors to the town. The craft struggled a bit on its entrance into the Maes as high winds hampered its decent.

Once it had touched down, visitors were allowed a closer view of the chopper and were also allowed to ask questions to the crew about the Air ambulance and the important work it carries out.

Unfortunately many people who lives behind the post office in Caernarfon were denied access tot their homes for over 45mins and concerns were raised that the Maes is ill thought out. Many locals complained that in the event of an emergency, vital minutes may have been lost due to access to Tre Gof, Garnon Street etc being hindered. Many complained that it was obvious that any health and safety survey was inadequate bearing in mind the number of elderly living in the area who may have needed emergency access during this time.

It was hoped that any future events of this nature should ensure that access to homes etc is not blocked, however short the time may be.
