Record number of cars hit the North Wales roads
One hundred and eighty veteran, vintage and classic cars will meander
through the scenic roads of North Wales on Sunday, September 27 as they take
part in the 11th Walled Towns Trail Car Run.
The ‘run’ is organised by The Five Towns Link, a body set up by
Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Conwy, Denbigh and Chester to promote these unique walled
locations.
Taking part in the run will be many famous cars representing every decade
from 1920 to 1970. Makes include
Alvis, Armstrong Siddeley, Austin,
Austin Healey, Bentley, Bond, Buicks, Clan,
Daimler, Ford, Gentry, Gilbern, Hillman,
Jaguar, Land Rover, Lea Francis,
Lotus, MG, Morgan, Morris, Renault,
Riley, Rolls Royce, Rover, Singer, Standard, Studebaker, Sunbeam, Triumph,
Vauxhall and Wolsley to name but a few.

Mottram and the youngest a 1973 Triumph GT6 driven by Bob Whiting from Colwyn
Bay.
‘We are over the moon with this year’s entry and even more so when you
take into consideration how far people are travelling to take part – Southport
in the North, Macclesfield in the East, Stourbridge in the South and Anglesey
in the West,’ said President of the
Walled Towns Friendship Circle, John Price MBE.
The event starts from Slate Quay in Caernarfon at 8:45 am and will be
flagged away by the Mayor of Caernarfon, Councillor Hywel Roberts. They then
head off to Conwy, via Llanberis, Capel Curig, Betws-y-Coed, Trefriw before
stopping at Bodlendeb for a coffee stop.
Passing through the main streets of Conwy they then venture onto Denbigh
via Colwyn Bay, Old Colwyn, Betws-y-Rhos, Llansannan, Bylchau, Groes and
through Denbigh town centre.
From Denbigh they will travel via Ruthin, Llandegla, Rossett, Lavister
and Pulford to Chester, finishing at Castle car park.
The Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor John Ebo and the mayors of Denbigh,
Conwy, Beaumaris and Caernarfon will judge the cars under six categories – Best
Vintage Car, Best Post-Vintage Car 1930-1940, Best Classic Car 1945-1972, Best
