ACOUSTIC POWER
Paul Brett, journalist for UK magazine 'Acoustic Magazine,' was approached by
Sarah Louise Owen, one of Wales's top young singer/songwriters to arrange a
showcase for acoustic artistes, based in Wales. Paul came up with an idea to
bring in the Caernarfon & Denbigh Herald to co-promote the evening.
Reporter Dion Jones took the idea to the Editor, Linda Roberts and she agreed
to take part. The C&D will run weekly profiles on the acts taking part,
thus giving them local exposure leading up to the gig.
Sarah arranged to hold the gig at Y Fricsan in
Cwm-y-Glo, which is situated right in the heart of Snowdonia. The venue's owner
Ted Silverster is supplying the room and Greg Byatt of Alpha Palace Production
will be filming the event. Paul says: "This is a great idea. The acts
taking part will have a visual reference of their performance, as will the
evening as a whole, and this can be used in all sorts of promotional ways
in the future. If successful, it may be a way forward for other local acts and
venues across the UK, and especially in rural areas, to organise similar events
on a roots level. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Sarah's hard work will
bear fruition on the night for everyone concerned".
The gig will be held on Sunday 26th September. 7.30 onwards, free
of charge. Artistes taking part are: Sarah Louise Owen, Gadjo Jazz, Gwilym
Morus, Something Personal (Unplugged), Dion Jones, Colin Roberts, Chloe Leavers
and Math Bolton.
