Sports Aid Cymru Wales

Alan Hughes, a Senior Leisure Officer with Gwynedd Council, has been elected a Vice President of Sports Aid Cymru Wales and will represent North Wales on the new Board. Alan has been helping raise funds for the Charity for over 15 years and is very honoured to have been invited to be part of an organisation which has helped so many young people become succesful Welsh sportsmen and women at both national, international, comonwealth and world levels.

Alan joins an elite board which includes Lord Kinnock of Bedwellty (President), Mark Oliver (Chairman and  Director of Business Services for gas pipeline company Wales & West Utilities), Ron Jones MBE (Director and former sprinter, captain of the Great Britain team at the 1968 Mexico Olympics),   Brynmor Williams (Vice President, former Wales International Rugby Union player and rugby commentator).

Sports Aid Cymru Wales has supported some of the Wales’ most succesful athletes of all time including Nicole Cooke who brought home gold from the Bejing Olympic. Other athletes that have been supported in their early years include Jamie Baulch, David Roberts and Becky Brewerton.

With the onset of the London Olympics, Sports Aid is keen to work even more closely with local businesses and organisations to help the next generation of sporting heroes who hail from Wales to achieve their full potential and make Wales a truly proud sporting nation.

Does you business or organisation want to be associated with Wales’ future sporting successes? Do you and your friends wish to raise money for the charity ?
