20 parents attended Diabetes UK Cymru’s free parent event
in Caernarfon
Twenty parents of
children with diabetes attended leading health charity Diabetes UK Cymru’s free
networking event in Caernarfon on Saturday.
The 20 parents attended the free parent network day held in Plas Menai
National Watersports Centre, Caernarfon, from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 3 July.
The event featured talks about care of children and young people with the
condition and was also a great opportunity for parents to meet up and share
their experiences.
Speakers included parent Rachel Bennett, from Welshpool, who has devised
her own carb-counting system to manage her daughter’s insulin dosage and Dai Williams, Diabetes UK Cymru’s National Director.
Mr Williams said: “Diabetes UK Cymru was delighted to host this parent
network day in Caernarfon and would like to thank all of the parents and
speakers who attended.
“Type 1 diabetes is increasing throughout Wales and the day was a vital
opportunity for parents of children with diabetes to find out more about the
condition and talk about their experiences.”
Diabetes UK Cymru provides advice, support and information to people with
diabetes and their families across Wales and funds research into the
condition.
