RACE HORSES TO HELP LIGHT DRAGON’S FIRE
Faenol Festival today announced that top Welsh group ‘Race
Horses’ have joined the line up who will be lighting the Dragon’s Fire at this
year’s 10th Anniversary Festival. They will be joined on stage on
Sunday Night for ‘Tan y Ddraig 10’ by a fiery combination of top Welsh bands
and top UK music industry acts.
The Festival is keen that Tan y Ddraig 10 reflects and
showcases the vibrancy of current Welsh language music alongside
internationally established acts. Tan y Ddraig 10 will be a great combination
of Welsh bands including Llanberis based group Yr Ods, Masters in France, new Cardiff singer songwriter sensation Pete
Lawrie (newly signed to Field/Island Records) and now Race Horses. The day will
be headlined by BRIT award nominated band, The Feeling, with Indie favourites
Shed Seven, Athlete and The Roads also on the bill.
Race Horses, (formerly known as Radio Luxembourg) formed in Aberystwyth
in 2005, and have been flourishing musically ever since. They recently released
their second album ‘Goodbye Falkenburg’ to great critical and industry acclaim.
The band consists of Meilyr Jones who is the lead singer, and plays bass
guitar, Dylan Hughes plays synths and guitar, Gwion Llewelyn plays the drums,
and Alun Gaffey plays guitar.
Antony Warren of Universal Music, Producers for this year’s Faenol Festival
said: “It’s important to us that the Festival brings the best of the world to Wales and maintains its strong Welsh identity by
continuing to provide a high profile platform for the great musical and
entertainment talent there is in Wales. This year’s festival has a rich
Welsh flavor as you might expect for the 10th anniversary: Rhydian, Yr Ods, Masters in France and now
Race Horses and new Cardiff singer songwriter sensation Pete Lawrie; Tudur
Owen, Lloyd Langford, the WNO Orchestra, a showcase of Welsh food and craft
produce and of course Bryn!”
