Diabetes UK Cymru hosting free parent event in Caernarfon
Leading health
charity Diabetes UK Cymru is hosting a free networking event in Caernarfon for
parents of children with diabetes across North Wales.
The charity is hosting the free parent network day in Plas Menai National
Watersports Centre, Caernarfon, from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 3 July.
Aimed at parents of children with diabetes, the event will feature talks
about care of children and young people with the condition and is also a great
opportunity to meet fellow parents of children with Type 1 diabetes.
Speakers include parent Rachel Bennett, from Welshpool, who has devised her
own carb-counting system to manage her daughter’s insulin dosage and Dai
Williams, Diabetes UK Cymru’s National Director.
Mr Williams said: “Diabetes UK Cymru is delighted to host this parent
network day in Caernarfon as it’s vital for parents of children with the
condition to meet up and share their experiences.
“Type 1 diabetes is increasing throughout Wales and the rest of the UK and
the day is a vital opportunity for parents of children with diabetes throughout
North Wales to find out more about the
condition.”
A free lunch is available to attendees. Children are welcome to attend but
there will be no children’s activities during the event as it is aimed at
parents.
