Have you received your recycling calendar?
Gwynedd Council’s waste and recycling
collection calendar for 2012 is now available. Every home in the county should
have received one through the post during the last week with the Council’s
newsletter.
Gwynedd residents are urged to keep it
in a safe place – who not stick it to the fridge door or another prominent
place around the home. It’s a useful reminder of when to put the bins out, and
a handy guide for what goes in which bin is to be found on the reverse.
Remember, there are two different
calendars – one for the Dwyfor area (with a green strip along the top) and one
for both Arfon and Meirionnydd areas (with a blue strip) so people should make
sure they keep the correct one for their area.
Collection days for 2012 are the same as
last year, unless the Council has contacted people directly to inform them
otherwise. There is a space on the calendar to note your collection day.
Councillor Arwel Pierce, Gwynedd Council
portfolio leader with responsibility for municipal services, said: “If you, or
someone you know, has not received a calendar it can be downloaded free
of charge from the Council’s website www.gwynedd.gov.uk/recycling or
telephone the Council’s contact centre Galw Gwynedd on 01766 771000.
“I would also call on people to contact
the Council if they are unsure of their collection day, for example if they are
new to the area. One can also request more recycling boxes or a new bin by
phoning the number.
“I would like to thank the residents of
Gwynedd for all their efforts during 2011 in sorting their rubbish into the
correct bins so that we can recycle and compost as much of our waste as
possible. The Council will be introducing more services in the coming year
which will help us all do even more for the environment. Why nor make a new
year’s resolution to try to recycle and compost even more in 2012?”
Waste collections will be as normal over
the Christmas holiday period, except for no collections on 26 and 27 December.
This includes waste collected from the blue recycling box, the brown food waste
bin, the brown wheeled bin and the green wheeled bin or black sacks.
If this affects your usual waste
collection the next collection date is marked on the calendar or for more
information telephone the Council on 01766 771000.
Gwynedd Council recycling centres will also be
open as normal over the holidays, except for 24-27 December, 31 December and 1
January when they will be closed. Centres will be open at the usual times on
28-30 December and normal services will resume on 2 January. |
