Gwynedd councillors move quickly to sort out safe route to school.
Last week a town councillor commented that she had "serious concerns" about a proposed footpath through Llanbeblig cemetery as safe route to school for pupils. This week five Gwynedd councillors met with Gwynedd officers Dafydd Gibbard (Corporate Property Manager) and Richard Farmer (Project Manager), they unanimously agreed to push through the proposal for the path and work will start next week.
Councillor Tudor Owen proposed that bins should be placed along the pathway so that every effort would be made to keep the route clean and tidy. Hendre school governors chairman Roy Owen stated that the children's safety was paramount and every effort should be made to ensure their well being.
Caernarfon Online understands that the school will be taking the pupils on the new route once it's completed before the new school opens.
Caernarfon Online has received numerous complaints that the children's safety was not the main issue following comments made by Peblig councillor Kirk and some members of the public.
One concerned local suggested that the town councillor should put her own ward in order before criticising neighbouring wards, stating that there were far more problems in the old cemetery with binge drinkers and drug abusers.
The new school is scheduled to open on the 12th March as exclusively revealed by Caernarfon Online last month.
First Minister Carwyn Jones will be visiting the school this month at the request of Mrs Jane Hutt AM.
