Ysgol Yr Hendre to open on 12th March
Last night the Governors of Ysgol Yr Hendre agreed to set the opening date for the new school.
The existing school will close for three days March 5th, 6th and 7th so that teachers and staff can make the transition and cover health and safety matters. A visit from the First Minister Mr Carwyn Jones has been arranged in February following positive visits by Minister for Finance Jane Hutt AM.
The Chair of the Governors Councillor Roy Owen announced that work had progressed well and barring any last minute hiccups all should go to plan for the 12th March opening. Mr Arwel Jones was delighted with the new school and said he was really looking forward to some nice stress over the next few weeks.
During the next few weeks speed warning signs and access improvements will be completed on Llanbeblig road. The existing pedestrian crossing will be moved closer to the new entrance and electronic speed lights will be installed on both sides of the entrance. A new pavement and barriers will also be constructed.
Letters were handed out to pupils on 19th Jan to explain the situation and keep parents informed on progress.
The old school will officially close on Friday 9th March.
A Community open day will be held after the pupils are settled into their new school. More news on this as we receive it.
