The long awaited arrival of the Olympic flame met with glorious weather and local excitement like no other. The streets of Caernarfon were decorated in red white and green to welcome the flame to the town for the very first time.
Eight thousand tickets had been allotted to the people of Gwynedd to experience a night to remember at the Faenol. Our very own Bryn Terfel carried the flame over the last leg of the journey and set alight the now symbolic cauldron on the main stage.
The ceremony at the Faenol was sponsored by Gwynedd Council, Coca Cola, Samsung and Lloyds TSB.
Gwynedd leader Dyfed Edwards welcomed the flame to Gwynedd to the applause and cheers of the welsh crowd.
Once more the eyes of the world were on Gwynedd, as a wonderful day ended with all expectations fulfilled.
Entertaining the audience were Ysgol Glanaethwy, Twist and Pulse and Kids in Glass Houses.
