Exploring Wales to London

The Brecon Beacons National Park in south Wales is rich in both historical remains and beautiful natural scenery.  From stunning waterfalls and caves to the valleys and rolling countryside for which Wales is famous, the Brecon Beacons National Park is an excellent contrast to the bustle that you’ll encounter in London.  The Brecon Beacons is in fact a mountain range, and includes the highest mountain in south Wales, Pen y Fan.  Wales has been dubbed the Land of Castles, thanks to the hundreds of medieval fortifications built during the Norman Conquest, many of which still survive in some form today.  In fact, Wales boasts more castles per square kilometre than any other country in Europe.  Carreg Cennen is one of the most spectacular ruins, perched on a dramatic limestone crag, and a must see attraction of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

There is a wealth of pristine beaches along the Welsh coast, over one hundred of which carry the international Blue Flag award for environmental excellence.  With such choice, you’ll often find many of these beaches practically deserted.  Both family days out and sporting pursuits such as kite surfing are well catered for on the more popular beaches, which all in all are something of a hidden treasure.

Whether it is the start or end of your journey, and wherever your hotels greater London happens to be situated, you should definitely arrange a trip to the London Eye.  The tallest Ferris wheel in Europe, the London Eye is the most popular paid for tourist attraction in Britain, and this popularity will be unsurprising when you reach the top of the wheel and are treated to the excellent birds-eye view of the City of London.  All of the attractions in the Square Mile, including The House of Parliament and Big Ben are visible from the top of the London Eye, which is a great place to plan a walking tour of the heart of the City.
