Caernarfon Online learned this week that a meeting was held at Llanbeblig Cemetery to see what was the way forward for clearing the appalling state of the old cemetery. Caernarfon Online has been campaigning for quite some time for the work to be carried out and even asked for volunteers to come forward.

The state of the old cemetery is appalling with beer cans and evidence of drug abuse on the grounds. Caernarfon Online was alarmed that this had been allowed to go on for so long without anything been done. Recently HTV Wales visited the site with Caernarfon Mayor Tudor Owen.

The meeting held on Monday this week with the Mayor Tudor Owen, Church Warden Malcolm Jones and the Church Rector. It has been suggested that the Welsh Guards would be able to carry out most of the work and further suggestions were made that the probation service could also help with the final clearance.

We asked Eira Hughes the Community Safety Facilitator what she thought of the probation service getting involved with Community time offenders getting involved. She said that this was an excellent idea and would be only too glad to help. The Mayor said that it would be ideal if they could help with the final clearing and burning of  debris from the site.

We at Caernarfon Online would like to applaud all the work done so far and hope to put this to rest once and for all, and that once the site is cleared, that the church will do all in its power to maintain it.
