The Dragon's Fire programme
presented another fabulous evening of Welsh Pop and
Rock. A host of top Welsh artists including the
legendary Dafydd Iwan and his band and seventies favourites
Hergest from Aberystwyth performed. There
was also be a special appearance of the original cast
from the 1974 production of the rock musical Nia Ben
Aur The cast features members of some of the famous
seventies bands such as Ac Eraill, Edward H Dafis, Sidan,
Mynediad am Ddim fronted by Heather Jones, Clive Harpwood
and Dewi Pws Morris. Among the stars were girl band Pheena, Rhydian Bowen Phillips, former member of
Wales' first boy band Mega, Elin Fflur and Bafta Cymru award winning actor and
singer Ryland Teifi.
Aprox. 5,000 people came to cheer
on the Welsh pop acts and Elin Fflur certainly got the
crowd moving with 'Harbwr Diogel'
Many of the crowd had not seen a Welsh
opera before and were singing and dancing (and laughing)
to the antics of Dewi Pws who blew the audience away
as 'the King'.
By the time Hergest and Dafydd Iwan
were on, everyone were singing and dancing along and
a great night was had by all. Lets hope Bryn can pull
it off next year and bring us Tom Jones, now that would
be a sensational catch!
